This Privacy Policy explains how NotForMe ("NFM", "NotForMe", "the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use the app.

NotForMe is designed to be privacy-first and local-first. You do not need to create a NotForMe account to use the app.

1. Information stored on your device

NotForMe stores the following information locally on your device:

• Profiles you create
• Rules and restrictions you add, such as ingredients, allergens, additives, origins, or diet preferences
• Scan history, if you choose to save scan results
• App settings, such as language, theme, sound, haptic feedback, and similar preferences
• Cached product information used to make repeated scans faster and support limited offline use
• Basic local usage counters, such as app opens, scan counts, cache hits, and flagged products

This information is used to provide the app's core features and is not used to create an advertising profile.

2. Barcode scans and product lookup

When you scan or enter a barcode, NotForMe may send that barcode to Open Food Facts to retrieve product information such as product name, ingredients, allergens, additives, origins, nutrition information, labels, and images.

Open Food Facts is a third-party service. Your use of product data retrieved from Open Food Facts may be subject to Open Food Facts' own terms and privacy practices.

NotForMe does not send your personal profiles or rules to Open Food Facts.

3. Camera and on-device text recognition

NotForMe uses your device camera to scan barcodes and, when you choose to use label scanning, to read product label text using on-device text recognition.

Camera access is used only for scanning and label reading. NotForMe does not upload camera images to our servers.

4. Backup and restore

NotForMe may offer backup and restore tools so you can export or import your profiles and rules.

Backup and restore are optional. Backup files may include your profiles, rules, and related app data needed to restore your setup.

If you export a backup file, you choose where to save or share it. NotForMe is not responsible for third-party apps, cloud storage providers, or locations you choose outside the app.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

NotForMe may offer paid features such as Premium access. Purchases, subscriptions, billing, cancellations, and refunds are handled by Google Play, not directly by NotForMe.

NotForMe may receive limited purchase status information from Google Play so the app can unlock Premium features, restore purchases, and prevent unauthorized access.

6. Firebase, diagnostics, analytics, and remote configuration

NotForMe may use Google Firebase services, including Crashlytics, Analytics, and Remote Config.

Crashlytics helps us identify crashes and stability problems. Crash reports may include technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version, crash logs, and diagnostic data.

Firebase Analytics may provide aggregated app usage and performance information, such as app opens, screen or feature usage, and general diagnostic signals. We use this to understand reliability and improve the app experience.

Remote Config helps us enable, disable, or adjust app features safely, such as feature flags, cache settings, or minimum supported app versions.

These services are used to improve reliability, safety, and product quality. They are not used by NotForMe to sell personal data.

7. Local analytics

NotForMe may store basic usage counters locally on your device, such as number of scans, cache hits, blocked products, or app opens. These local counters are used to show app statistics and understand app behavior on your device.

Unless otherwise stated in the app, these local counters are not uploaded to our servers.

8. Data sharing

NotForMe may share limited data only in the following situations:

• With Open Food Facts, when you scan or enter a barcode for product lookup
• With Google Play, when needed to process, verify, or restore purchases
• With Firebase or Google services, for crash reporting, diagnostics, analytics, and remote configuration
• With third-party storage or sharing apps only when you choose to export or handle a backup file through them
• When required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security

We do not sell your personal data.

9. Data retention and deletion

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, uninstall the app, or use in-app deletion features where available.

Scan history can be cleared from within the app.

Backup files remain wherever you choose to store them until you delete them.

Crash, analytics, purchase, and diagnostic data handled by Google, Firebase, Google Play, or Open Food Facts is retained according to those services' applicable practices.

10. Security

NotForMe uses reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including Android platform protections, HTTPS network requests where applicable, and Google Play billing systems for purchases.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

NotForMe is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

12. Important health and product-data disclaimer

NotForMe is a shopping assistance tool. It is not a medical, allergy management, diagnosis, treatment, or health advice application.

Product data may be incomplete, outdated, incorrect, or missing. Always verify ingredients, allergens, origins, additives, and other product information directly on the product packaging and with official manufacturer sources, especially if you have allergies, intolerances, medical conditions, or strict dietary requirements.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be shown in the app and/or on our website with a new "Last updated" date.
